It was reported a female went to the residence to retrieve belongings. There a male battered her, displayed a firearm, and made threats to kill the parties involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies arrived, secured the scene. The male exited the residence. Consent to search was given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies located several firearms, including a tan colored 9mm Sig Sauer handgun that was described by the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A potential improvised explosive device was located. The South Bend Bomb Squad was contacted. Members of the South Bend and Porter County Bomb Squad responded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is believed to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the public at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies also located numerous glass smoking devices, scales, straws, and other suspected drug paraphernalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Devin Akers (37), of Grovertown, was taken into custody. Mr. Akers is currently housed at the Starke County Justice Center and preliminarily charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon a Level 5 Felony<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of Methamphetamine a Level 6 Felony<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Domestic Battery an A Misdemeanor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of Paraphernalia a C Misdemeanor\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>As a reminder, suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
