On the morning of Sunday, October 19th, 2025, Starke County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Range Rd. and CR 250 N. for a motor vehicle crash. During the initial investigation, it was determined that a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling southbound on Range Rd. north of CR 250 N., when the vehicle left the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck several trees. The vehicle was found to be unoccupied.
Deputies contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and learned that the owner’s son had been driving the wrecked vehicle. Several other individuals were contacted in an attempt to locate the individual driving the vehicle.
An area search was then conducted by deputies, along with local fire departments, and friends of the individual believed to be driving the vehicle. During the search, individuals located an ajar door at an unoccupied residence on CR 250 N., west of the crash scene. Emergency responders entered the home and found a deceased male inside the residence.
The individual found deceased was later identified as Logan Cooke, age 18, of Walkerton. It was determined that Cooke had been the individual operating the wrecked vehicle. At this time, the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident are encouraged to contact the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.
